Worship Summer Intern Job Description

Job Summary:

The Worship Summer Intern will assist the Worship Team to enhance the dynamic worship environment for the worship in whatever way needed, in addition to receiving exposure to weekly planning, scheduling, and preparation. This paid position requires an intern to devote 15-20 hours per week working closely with the Pastor, Worship Team Leader, and Music Director.

Job Duties:

  • Actively participates in weekly worship and ministry planning sessions.
  • Participates in the Worship Band and lead rehearsals as assigned by the Worship Team Leader/Music Director.
  • Ensures that slides and service logistics are prepared for Sunday services. Creates song charts as necessary for worship.
  • Assists in the recruitment and training of new members for the worship band.
  • Plans 2 special worship events.
  • Observes and learns how to schedule volunteers and communicate with individuals to backfill any empty slots.
  • Contributes to the team through participation in team meetings, seeks servant-leadership opportunities, learns, and envisions God working through them to make an impact on others.
  • Assists other ministries and provides support wherever needed.

Working Relationships:

Responsible to: Pastor
Works closely with: Worship Team, Music Director, A/V Team

Skills Required:

  • Fully committed follower of Christ.
  • Previous experience in serving on worship team and/or instrumentalist in worship band.
  • Able to read music or chord charts.
  • A motivated self-starter who can meet deadlines while creating quality work.
  • Some computer skills e.g. Google Apps, Planning Center, Garage Band, and PowerPoint.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.

Time Required:

This position is a temporary summer internship (mid-May to mid-August) working 15-20 hours per week and requires working weekends. Normal working hours are Sunday, Tuesday evening, and Thursday.

Training and development:

  • Intern will participate in evaluations and debrief of goals throughout the course of the internship.
  • Reads and participates in book study with pastor and other intern.
